The Bird from Paradise Wooden Sculpture by Mohamad ali Vadood The Bird from Paradise is a wooden sculpture shaped as a bird. The sculpture brings together seven traditional Iranian arts, including Muqarnas, marquetry, wood carving and wood turning. A new method called Leveling Muqarnas was developed for the work, placing carved layers of different thickness instead of small repeated pieces. The lower body uses the new method, while the crown follows the traditional one. The natural colors of jujube, boxwood, rosewood and other woods are left unpainted. The eyes are made from a single seashell from the Persian Gulf. Forest Heart Wood Picture by Mohamad ali Vadood Forest Heart is a marquetry wall artwork that depicts a bird. The image is built from 47 wood pieces, each cut at a defined angle to reveal natural grain patterns. The woods include haloxylon, barberry, fig, tree of heaven, keykom maple, jujube, European ash and wenge. All colors, lines and textures come from the wood itself, without added color. The sheets are 4 mm thick, the panel measures 35 by 60 cm and the weight is 700 grams. The work follows a method named Naqshbandi, which traces and joins natural patterns to form one complete image. One Thousand and One Nights Vessel by Mohamad ali Vadood One Thousand and One Nights is a decorative wooden vessel made with a method called Irregular Segmenting. Leftover wood cuts of different shapes and sizes are sorted by complementary colors and joined into small sheets. The small sheets are then combined into larger sheets. Discs are cut from the sheets, glued and fixed together, and the whole volume is wood-turned. The vessel is 40 cm in height and 20 cm in diameter, and is accompanied by two cups. The design gives a new use to wood scraps that are usually discarded. |
