Established in 2020 by Darren Pirono and Jefferson Frans Tan, Upper Room Collaborative Studio provides end-to-end design-build services in architecture and interior design, focusing on residential, commercial, hospitality, and industrial projects.

Our studio focuses on contemporary style simplicity with timeless and coherent design characteristics, where the design acts as a canvas that allows a custom environment for our occupants to express their life on their dwelling fabrics. We combine natural elements, cultural incorporation, materials, collaborations with occupants, and our partner’s values and vision to create a built narrative through iterations of research and developments.

Our studio comprises talented collaborators ranging from the Design team to Civil and Interior Contractors, with whom we rigorously communicate and innovate ideas and solutions to deliver the best design approach. We also extensively communicate with our clients regularly, as we believe this is the best tool for finding common ground and fulfilling their expectations.

Tranquil By The Sea Private Apartment by Darren Pirono The property has an advantage of surrounded by sea as it is located at the northernmost point of Jakarta. The designer took advantage of the sea to emphasize it by creating a contrasting color palate of wood and dark features. It highlights and frame the ocean, allowing it becoming the main focus. In addition, the sequencing of space using their directive approach divides the area accordingly, along with different usage of materials and style on each sequence, to break the area so that it would not feel too wide and short as the ceiling height is low.
